REGULAR SESSION MONDAY EVENING FEBRUARY 17, 2020

The Governing Body of the City of Silver Lake met in regular session at city hall on Monday evening February 17, 2020, with Councilmember Robinson conducting the meeting and the following Councilmembers present: Larry Ross, Tom Noble, Tim Kampsen (3) Absent: Mack Smith and Brad Bryant (2). Also present were City Attorney Luckman, Police Chief Call, Public Works Superintendent Taylor, Clerk Brown and Assistant Clerk Beam.

Motion was made by Councilmember Ross and seconded by Councilmember Noble that the minutes from the last regular session held on February 03, 2020, be approved as amended.

Claim vouchers in the amount of $46825.62 were submitted to council for appropriation. An ordinance entitled "An ordinance appropriating money to pay certain claims" was introduced and read at length. Motion was made by Councilmember Noble and seconded by Councilmember Ross that said ordinance be accepted as read and was then placed on final passage by roll call vote of the following vote: AYE: Heath Robinson, Larry Ross, Tom Noble, Tim Kampsen (4) NAY: None. Ordinance was declared passed and was given No. 2447.

The 150th committee would like to have a fireworks display on June 13th, 2020. For the city to allow this it can be added to the Annual fireworks Resolution. The committee would also like to have a carnival in town for the 150th weekend. Council had discussion on were would be a big enough space to have this event.

After discussion on our court process and court costs, motion was made by Councilmember Kampsen to raise Court Costs to $70.00, ($23.50 of this is remitted to the State of Kansas for every citation filed with the Department of Motor Vehicles) from $62.50 effective May 6th, 2020. Motion was made by Councilmember Noble and seconded by Councilmember Ross that an ordinance increasing court costs to $70.00 be accepted and was then placed on final passage by roll call vote of the following vote. AYE: Heath Robinson, Larry Ross, Tom Noble, Tim Kampsen (4) NAY: None. Ordinance was declared passed and was given No. 2448.

Motion was made by Councilmember Ross that $250.00 be donated to the 2020 Silver Lake Easter Egg Hunt Committee. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Noble and approved.

D.A.R.E. graduation will be held on May 8, 2020, in the performing arts center at Silver Lake High School. Brad is putting a t-shirt order together for the D.A.R.E. class.

The new part-time police officer has started working.

The Lions Club is hosting a community meeting on Saturday February 22, 2020.

It is time to start planning the street project.

With no further business to come before council, Councilmember Ross moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:15 P.M. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Noble and approved.
