The Governing Body of the City of Silver Lake met in regular session at city hall and by conference call 1-844-474-0925 passcode 73370940 on Monday evening March 1, 2021, at 5:30 PM with Mayor Mack Smith conducting the meeting and the following Councilmembers present: Tom Noble, Brad Bryant, Larry Ross, Tim Kampsen, (4) Absent: Heath Robinson (1). Also present were City Attorney Todd Luckman, Public Works Utility Superintendent Willie Smith, Police Chief Marc McCune, Clerk Michelle Brown, and Assistant Clerk Marie Beam.

A motion was made by Councilmember Noble and seconded by Councilmember Ross that the minutes from the last regular session on February 15th, 2021, be approved as written.

Councilmember Bryant presented the monthly financial report.

Claim vouchers in the amount of 15,045.75 dollars were submitted to the Council for appropriation. An Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance appropriating money to pay certain claims" was introduced and read at length. A motion was made by Councilmember Noble and seconded by Councilmember Ross that said Ordinance be accepted as read and was then placed on final passage by a roll call of the following vote: AYE: Tom Noble, Brad Bryant, Tim Kampsen, and Larry Ross (4) NAY: None. With no further discussion, Ordinance was declared passed and was given No. 2484.

A motion was made by Councilmember Noble, seconded by Councilmember Kampsen, and approved that the Farm Lease Agreement with Wendell Mohler, Dennis Mohler, Colleen Dougan, and Jesse Mohler be accepted for the 2021 crop season. With some discussion on next year's agreement, motion carried.

Councilmember Noble made a motion that the two (2) Certificate of Deposits that matured at Silver Lake Bank on March 1, 2021, be renewed for a term of ten (10) months at an interest rate of 0.55 %. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Kampsen and approved. The interest earned from this CD is for the General Fund.

Councilmember Ross made a motion that $250.00 be donated to the 2021 Silver Lake Easter Egg Hunt Committee. Councilmember Bryant seconded the motion, and with no further discussion, the motion carried.

Public Works Utility Superintendent Smith presented the monthly public works report.

Police Chief McCune gave the monthly police report.

A discussion was had on the flashing school light that is not working. Public Works Utility Superintendent Smith is going to check into some options.

Mayor Smith contacted the Lions Club about some possible changes to the deed for the Lion's Park and Ball Field. At this time, the Lions Club is not interested in changing the deed.

The Storm organization had a cleanup day at the Lions Ball Field over the weekend.

Council directs Clerk Brown to respond to an email from Kansas Insurance letting John Kabus know he can be put on the Agenda for the March 15th meeting.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 15, 2021, at 5:30 PM. The following meetings are scheduled for April 5th, 2021, at 5:30 PM. and April 19th, 2021, at 5:30 PM.

Councilmember Bryant let council know he will be gone on April 19th, 2021.

With no further business to come before Council, Councilmember Noble moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:03 PM. Councilmember Ross seconded the motion, and with no further discussion, the motion carried.
