A Hallmark Celebration: Silver Lake Shines Bright at Annual Tree Lighting Event

12/8/2023 11:36:00 AM

Dear Silver Lake Community,

We are thrilled to share the heartwarming success of our Annual Tree Lighting Festivities, transforming our town into a Hallmark-worthy winter wonderland! The evening was nothing short of magical, and we owe it all to the incredible community spirit that brought us together.

The First Baptist Church of Silver Lake gifted the community with a beautiful Live Nativity, creating a scene straight out of a Christmas storybook. A heartfelt thank you to Becki at Wehner's Thriftway for spreading warmth with her delightful cocoa donation – truly the perfect companion on a chilly evening.

Mayor Smith's reading added a touch of tradition, and the joyous visits with Santa Claus made the event even more memorable for our little ones. We extend our deepest gratitude to Michel Dental for their popcorn treats and the generous prize that added an extra sparkle to the night.

The Silver Lake High School Select Choir graced us with a performance that echoed through the hearts of everyone present. The tree, aglow with the collective love of our community, lit up the night in a dazzling display of unity.

The small-town charm of the carriage rides brought families together, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. The outstanding food trucks, including Cooking With Mike, Greg Harmon's Blowin' Smoke BBQ, and Mama's Minis Donuts, satisfied our taste buds and added to the festive atmosphere.

The hayrack ride to the Live Nativity was a perfect touch, transporting us seamlessly from one enchanting scene to another. A special acknowledgment to the Silver Lake Masons and the Silver Lake Eastern Star for their assistance and generous donations, as well as the Silver Lake American Legion, We Are Silver Lake, and Silver Lake Community Improvement for their unwavering support.

Our community truly embodies the spirit of togetherness, and the success of this event is a testament to the warmth and generosity that defines us. Silver Lake, you've made this December a Hallmark-worthy celebration, and we couldn't be prouder to call this place home!

A heartfelt thank you extends to all the dedicated City staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, pulling together this enchanting event. Your hard work and commitment have truly made a difference in bringing joy to our community.

With gratitude and holiday cheer,

Liz Steckel, City Clerk
City of Silver Lake
