Open Records Act:

Effective January 1, 1984: K.S.A 45-215 et. Seq. (a) In order for any person(s) wishing to view any City of Silver Lake records deem open to the public (unless so noted in this policy and/or K.S.A. 45-221), it shall be necessary for those persons to: 

1. Contact the City’s official custodian of records either by phone, email or mail; 

2. Disclose the name and address of the person wishing to view the records;

3. When calling on the telephone or emailing, arrange for an appointment time; and

4. Provide a positive form of identification before viewing records.


KORA Exemptions:

The City Clerk shall be empowered to set out a list of documents that may be exempted from the above identification requirements.

8:00 a.m. to 12 Noon and 1:00pm to 4:30 pm

Monday through Friday, except for designated City holidays and when it is necessary for office personnel to be out of the office.

Cost of Copies:

25¢ per page plus all mailing costs.

An hourly charge (identical to the staff employee doing the work) will be assessed if additional time is necessary to provide requested documentation.
