REGULAR SESSION MONDAY EVENING FEBRUARY 1, 2021
 
The Governing Body of the City of Silver Lake met in regular session at city hall and by conference call 1-844-474-0925 passcode 73370940 on Monday evening February 1, 2021, at 5:30 PM with Mayor Mack Smith conducting the meeting and the following Councilmembers present: Tom Noble, Brad Bryant, Larry Ross, Tim Kampsen (via telephone), and Heath Robinson (5).  Also present were City Attorney Todd Luckman, Public Works Utility Superintendent Willie Smith, Police Chief Marc McCune, Clerk Michelle Brown, and Assistant Clerk Marie Beam. 

David Jellison, 322 Lakewood Terr., Silver Lake KS, Cody Johnson, 311 Lakewood Terr., Silver Lake KS, Michael Lowe, 505 Mercury, Silver Lake KS, and Chuck Ross, 415 Chestnut, Silver Lake KS were here to express their concerns about the new Silver Lake Lions Field Reservation System.

Russ Cobb, the field coordinator with the Silver Lake Lions Club, was here to give Council an update on the community ball field meeting they had in January 2021. After discussions on the new reservation systems, Mayor Smith asked Russ Cobb to check into the insurance clause in the agreement to make sure it is affordable for ball teams to acquire.
 
A motion was made by Councilmember Ross and seconded by Councilmember Noble that the minutes from the last regular session on January 20, 2021, be approved as written. 
 
Councilmember Bryant presented the monthly financial report. 
 
Claim vouchers in the amount of 113,381.45 dollars were submitted to the Council for appropriation. An Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance appropriating money to pay certain claims" was introduced and read at length. A motion was made by Councilmember Noble and seconded by Councilmember Robinson that said Ordinance be accepted as read and was then placed on final passage by a roll call of the following vote: AYE: Tom Noble, Brad Bryant, Tim Kampsen, Heath Robinson, Larry Ross (5) NAY: None. With no further discussion, Ordinance was declared passed and was given No. 2482.
 
Councilmember Noble made a Motion to approve Resolution 2021-01. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Robinson and was then placed on final passage by a roll call of the following vote: AYE: Tom Noble, Brad Bryant, Tim Kampsen, Heath Robinson, Larry Ross (5) NAY: None. With no further discussion, Resolution 2021-01 was approved.

Police Chief McCune gave the monthly police report. 

Public Works Utility Superintendent Smith presented the monthly public works report.  
 
Councilmember Ross made a motion to hire RDR Excavating not to exceed 3,000.00 dollars to clean out some water meter pits. Councilmember Noble seconded the motion, and with no further discussion, the motion was approved.

The Council directed Public Works Utility Superintendent Smith to purchase a new water pump not to exceed 750.00 dollars to replace the broken one.

Councilmember Robinson made a motion that Public Works Superintendent Smith can purchase salt/sand mixture not to exceed 1,600.00 dollars. Councilmember Ross seconded the motion, and with no further discussion, the motion was approved.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 15, 2021, at 5:30 PM. The following meetings are scheduled for March 1, 2021, at 5:30 PM. and March 15, 2021, at 5:30 PM.

With no further business to come before Council, Councilmember Noble moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:28 PM. Councilmember Robinson seconded the motion, and with no further discussion, the motion carried.
