REGULAR SESSION MONDAY EVENING JANUARY 20, 2021
 
The Governing Body of the City of Silver Lake met in regular session at city hall and by conference call 1-844-474-0925 passcode 73370940 on Wednesday evening January 20, 2021, at 5:30 PM with Mayor Mack Smith conducting the meeting and the following Councilmembers present: Tom Noble, Brad Bryant, Tim Kampsen, and Heath Robinson, Larry Ross (5). Also present were City Attorney Todd Luckman, Public Works Utility Superintendent Willie Smith, Police Chief Marc McCune, Clerk Michelle Brown, and Assistant Clerk Marie Beam.  
 
A motion was made by Councilmember Noble and seconded by Councilmember Kampsen that the minutes from the last regular session on January 4, 2021, be approved as written. 
 
Councilmember Bryant presented the December financial report. 
 
Claim vouchers in the amount of 11,633.93 dollars were submitted to the Council for appropriation. An Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance appropriating money to pay certain claims" was introduced and read at length. A motion was made by Councilmember Noble and seconded by Councilmember Robinson that said Ordinance be accepted as read and was then placed on final passage by a roll call of the following vote: AYE: Tom Noble, Brad Bryant, Tim Kampsen, Heath Robinson, Larry Ross (5) NAY: None. With no further discussion, Ordinance was declared passed and was given No. 2481.
 
Council decided to renew the Kansas Rural Water Association membership.

Council decided to renew the Kansas Mayors Association membership.

A discussion was held on the renewal of the City Attorneys Association of Kansas. Council decided not to renew this membership.

Councilmember Noble made a motion to hire Varney and Associates for the 2020 Audit. Councilmember Kampsen seconded the motion, and with no further discussion, the motion carried.

Council directed City Clerk Brown to obtain bids for the 2022 Budget.

Public Works Utility Superintendent Smith would like to purchase the second set of radio-read meters and have them installed over the next two years. Councilmember Noble made a motion to purchase the meters not to exceed 67,347.50 dollars. Councilmember Robinson seconded the motion, and with no further discussion, the motion carried.

Public Works Superintendent Smith would like to restock parts and supplies needed for the water department. Councilmember Kampsen made a motion to purchase parts and supplies for the water department not to exceed 6,000 dollars. Councilmember Ross seconded the motion, and with no further discussion, the motion carried.

The School Zone light repair is taking longer than expected.

Councilmember Ross would like to move money from the General Fund to the Capital Improvement fund. A discussion was had on how to transfer the money.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 1, 2021, at 5:30 PM. The following meeting is scheduled for February 15, 2021, at 5:30 PM.

With no further business to come before Council, Councilmember Noble moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:18 PM. Councilmember Robinson seconded the motion, and with no further discussion, the motion carried.
