The Governing Body of the City of Silver Lake met in regular session at city hall on Monday evening January 6, 2020 with Mayor Mack Smith conducting the meeting and the following Councilmembers present: Brad Bryant, Tim Kampsen, Heath Robinson, Larry Ross (4) Absent: Tom Noble (1). ). Also present were City Attorney Luckman, Police Chief Call, Public Works Assistant Smith, City Clerk Brown and Assistant City Clerk Beam.

Motion was made by Councilmember Ross and seconded by Councilmember Robinson that the minutes from the last regular session held on December 16, 2019 be approved.

Councilmember Bryant presented the monthly financial report.

Claim vouchers in the amount of $7430.46 were submitted to council for appropriation. An ordinance entitled "An ordinance appropriating money to pay certain claims" was introduced and read at length. Motion was made by Councilmember Robinson and seconded by Councilmember Ross that said ordinance be accepted as read and was then placed on final passage by roll call of the following vote: AYE: Brad Bryant, Tim Kampsen, Heath Robinson, Larry Ross (4) NAY: None. Ordinance was declared passed and was given No. 2444.

Chief Call presented the monthly police report. It was noted that because of break-ins and illness the shifts were changed up this month.

Public Works Assistant Smith presented the monthly public works report. Discussion was held on how the water and lagoon samples were taken.

Public Works Assistant Smith would like to purchase new scales, safety alarms, injectors and a new pump. These items would make adding chlorine safer. Councilmember Robinson made motion to purchase this equipment not to exceed $10,000. Councilmember Kampsen seconded the motion and approved.

Public Works Assistant Smith would like to start getting bids for a new tractor, to replace the John Deere 970. Smith was directed to get bids and come back to council.

Chief Call reported Police Officer Snyder’s D.A.R.E. schedule will be finalized and the list of items needed will be provided soon. Also, all the recalls for the police vehicles have been fixed. The 2015 patrol car had to have the brakes serviced and an oil change.

Motion was made by Councilmember Ross to approve the Application renewal for a Liquor License received from Blacksmith Hall LLC. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Robinson and approved.

Councilmember Kampsen told the Public Works guys they did a good job on the snow removal.

Mayor Mack Discussed the upcoming KRWA meeting.

It was noted that a picture of one of the Christmas lights on main street was in the Capital Journal.

Local Government Day will be on January 22, 2020.

Court will be on Wednesday February 5th ,2020.

The next council meeting will be on Wednesday January 22nd and the following meeting will be on Monday February 3rd, 2020.

With no further business to come before council, Councilmember Ross moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:00 P.M. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Robinson and approved.
