REGULAR SESSION MONDAY EVENING FEBRUARY 03, 2020
The Governing Body of the City of Silver Lake met in regular session at city hall on Monday evening February 03, 2020, with Mayor Mack Smith conducting the meeting and the following Councilmembers present: Brad Bryant, Heath Robinson, Larry Ross, Tom Noble, Tim Kampsen. Absent: none. Also present were City Attorney Luckman, Public Works Assistant Smith, Clerk Brown and Assistant Clerk Beam.
Motion was made by Councilmember Ross and seconded by Councilmember Noble that the minutes from the last regular session held on January 22, 2020, be approved.
Councilmember Bryant presented the monthly financial report.
Claim vouchers in the amount of $8115.29 were submitted to council for appropriation. An ordinance entitled "An ordinance appropriating money to pay certain claims" was introduced and read at length. Motion was made by Councilmember Noble and seconded by Councilmember Ross that said ordinance be accepted as read and was then placed on final passage by roll call vote of the following vote: AYE: Brad Bryant, Heath Robinson, Larry Ross, Tom Noble, Tim Kampsen. NAY: None. Ordinance was declared passed and was given No. 2446.
Motion was made by Councilmember Noble that the Certificate of Deposit that matured at Silver Lake Bank on February 05, 2020, be renewed for a term of fourteen (14) months at an interest rate of 1.84 %. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Kampsen and approved. The interest earned from this CD is for the Water Works Fund.
Motion was made by Councilmember Noble to waive the user fee for the Silver Lake Lions Club’s use of the community building on February 22, 2020. They are using the building to have a community meeting with State Representative Patton and State Senator Miller. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Robinson and approved.
Mayor Smith gave an update on the 150th festivities. Discussion was held about this matter.
Discussion was held on the police report that was in councils’ packet.
Public Works Assistant Smith presented the monthly public works report.
Public Works Assistant Smith needs to buy 2 chlorine bottles. Motion was made by Councilmember Noble to buy 2 Chlorine bottles. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Robinson and approved.
Motion was made by Councilmember Noble to renew the Kansas Mayors Association membership. Motion seconded by Councilmember Robinson and approved.
Discussion was held on the renewal of the City Attorneys Association of Kansas. Council decided to not renew this membership.
Councilmember Bryant and Mayor Smith let council know that they will be gone February 17, 2020.
D.A.R.E. graduation will be held on May 08, 2020.
USD 372 Public School Foundation will have a fundraiser on February 17, 2020. The city has bought a table for this event.
Mayor Smith gave an update on the Water Customer from the last meeting.

The Christmas tree in front of the police station has been taken down.
Mayor Smith provided information on several matters going before the legislature this session.
The next meeting is scheduled for February 17, 2020, at 5:30 P.M. The following meetings are scheduled for March 02, 2020, at 5:30 P.M and March 16, 2020, at 5:30 P.M.
With no further business to come before council, Councilmember Noble moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:57 P.M. Motion was seconded by Councilmember Ross and approved.
